Discurso pronunciado en el Certamen Nacional e Internacional de Periodismo

ESTIMADOS AMIGOS y colegas. En esta ocasión el Club de Periodistas de México les da la bienvenida en un México sumergido en una profunda transformación social, económica y política. Las radicales medidas implantadas por el gobierno de la 4T, los efectos de la grave pandemia del Covid 19 y la escasa atención que se ha prestado al problema de la criminalidad en México han afectado severamente la tarea y perspectivas del periodista y comunicador en México.

El Club de Periodistas de México ha tomado en cuenta estos acontecimientos en la tarea de calificación de la labor de los comunicadores participantes en su certamen de periodismo.

Las condiciones de trabajo de muchos periodistas, en especial los de los medios electrónicos, han cambiado por la utilización cada vez mayor de los sistemas de comunicación y aplicaciones digitales con cada vez mayor difusión e influencia y eso ha tenido que ser reconocido. La labor individual, mayormente en sus domicilios de los comunicadores ha pasado de ser marginal a ser la actividad predominante en muchos casos. El resultado ha sido que el comunicador tiene que competir ante el receptor de la información con otros emisores no calificados y promoventes de abiertas falsedades y teorías conspiratorias que destruyen el criterio y la capacidad de razonamiento de millones de personas en todo el mundo.

Preocupa también el alejamiento de nuestros actuales gobernantes respecto un gran sector de la prensa que tradicionalmente respaldó su larga lucha por alcanzar sus metas políticas y ahora son descalificados y agrupados y echados en el mismo costal con los adversarios históricos del progreso del país. Éste no ha evolucionado a una sociedad tolerante, donde la disidencia sea aceptada y confrontada en argumentos y no sea motivo de sorna y de desprecio en declaraciones con las que clases sociales completas, como esa abstracción que es la clase media, y de donde ha surgido prácticamente todo el pensamiento de izquierda en México, son descalificadas de un plumazo.

En el manejo del debate entre gobernantes y medios de comunicación y opinión la tolerancia rinde mejores frutos que le intemperancia y garantiza un futuro de verdadera convivencia y tranquilidad social.

No es posible que quienes compartan y respalden las decisiones y acciones del actual gobierno prefieran callar y tengan que renunciar a todo asomo de crítica, para que como me han lo dicho algunos, “no hacerle el caldo gordo†a los enemigos de la 4T, sin darse cuenta que sólo favorecen a éstos al dejarles el monopolio de la crítica

Sin duda se ha avanzado mucho en la tarea de desterrar a la corrupción, cuyo monto global era de magnitud macroeconómica. Esa tarea justifica el respaldo que merece y se ha granjeado el actual gobierno.

Los comunicadores en México siguen teniendo que hacerle frente al poder del crimen organizado en grandes extensiones del territorio nacional en los que el cambio no se ha materializado y el apoyo de la autoridad local es titubeante. Esos son los compañeros comunicadores que tienen que mostrar un valor temerario y enfrentarse además a un poder judicial al servicio de los criminales más poderosos.

La criminalidad existente no disminuirá ni un ápice sólo con las medidas que favorezcan el progreso de esa juventud que actualmente nutre sus filas debido a la miseria, tiene que ser enfrentada con decisión y técnicas de combate a la delincuencia que incluyen patrullaje, investigación forense y búsqueda, y apoyarse en las investigaciones de los periodistas locales y no debe más fomentarse la fraternidad con un sector criminal que se burla de todo gesto de apaciguamiento.

Los comunicadores de México tienen que enfrentar una tarea creciente en complejidad y menguante en ingresos para su subsistencia y mantenimiento, por ello reconocimientos como el que les ofrecemos hoy les son vitales para que la sociedad los valore y los respalde.

La autoridad, en lugar de referirse de manera prolija a sus críticos, debe también resaltar las identidades de quienes, solos, se enfrentan en todos los rincones del país a los grandes adversarios del progreso y bienestar de México.
